Principals

Karen has been studying all styles of dance since age six. Karen is a registered Cecchetti teacher and holds the Cecchetti Licentiate. Karen has 30 years teaching experience and is renowned for her commitment and dedication to providing expert tuition in classical ballet. Karen is also a registered teacher with the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet.
Carla has danced since age four and has 30 years teaching experience in all styles of dancing. She holds her Associate and Members Certificates with the Dance Factory Teacher’s Academy. Carla has worked professionally in theatre restaurants and various shows in Melbourne and Sydney including fashion parades and the AFL Footy Show. Choreography and teaching experience includes dance concerts and shows, fashion parades and hair shows, summer schools, universities, primary and secondary schools.

Teaching Staff

Sarah has been studying all styles of dance since she was 6 years old, and has competed in various dance eisteddfods and completed her Cecchetti Classical ballet examinations from Grade 1 to Advanced 1 as well as VCE Dance. Sarah studied at Industry Dance for two years on a full time basis and still attends various classes in Melbourne. In 2010 Sarah successfully completed the Glenn Wood Tap Teaching examination and most recently gained her Cecchetti Associate qualification. Sarah enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion of dance with the students of KC’s School of Dance.
Leanne is both a women’s and men’s Artistic Gymnastics Coach and has been coaching in clubs and schools for 15 years. She gained her qualifications with Gymnastics Victoria/Australia. Leanne ahs also gained Principals of Coaching, Managing the Risks of Coaching status, ASC Community Coach and Kinder gym Coaching. Leanne was awarded 5 Star Coaching Status from the Australian Sports Commission. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge with her students.
Chloe has studied at KC’s School of Dance since the age of 6, studying all styles of dance. She successfully competed in numerous eisteddfods, winning Championship sections on many occasions. Chloe has passed all Cecchetti examinations from Grade 1 to Advanced 2. Chloe was also successful in Cecchetti Junior Encouragement and Medal Awards and was also a Victorian Cecchetti Scholar. Chloe has also completed up to and including Level 10 Glenn Wood Tap examinations.

Jess trained with KC’s School of Dance from the age of 4, completing Cecchetti Classical Ballet examinations up to Advanced 1 and competing at eisteddfods in all styles of dance. After high school she trained for two years at Showfit in Melbourne before completing her Bachelor of Music Theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. During her time at WAAPA, Jess work shopped the lead role of Thalia in Matthew Robinson’s Atlantis, as well as playing Serena in ‘Legally Blonde’, Chris Hargensen in ‘Carrie’ and Little Becky in ‘Urinetown’. Since graduating, Jess has appeared alongside Glee and Scream Queens creator Ian Brennan as Macy in the short musical comedy film ‘Library of Love’, as a soloist in Matthew Robinson’s ‘New Voices’ and in Manila Street Productions ‘Nine’ in concert. Jess has been teaching singing, theatre jazz and ballet for 5 years now and is excited to return to KC’s to share her passion for musical theatre.
Ellen is a teacher, performer and choreographer. She holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Honours), Graduate Diploma in Education, Cert IV Training & Assessment. With experience training and performing nationally and internationally (Germany, Japan, South Korea), Ellen’s work has been nominated for a Green Room Award and ‘Best Dance’ at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Ellen trained in Classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap at KCs School of Dance for 14 years where she participated in Cecchetti exams, competitions and was an Australian Ballet Junior Associate. Ellen performed in the VCAA ‘Top Acts’ concerts for both Dance and Theatre Studies and was awarded a Premier’s award for VCE Dance.
Melanie started dance at age 4. During her 16 years of training she has successfully competed in numerous dance competitions, local fashion parades, had dance experience through The Queensland Ballet, promotional work with Disney and exhibition events including Lexus, and TV experience including the AFL Footy Show. After many years training at KC’s School of Dance, Melanie studied full time at Burtuccio’s and completed Certificate III in Dance. Melanie is looking forward to sharing her dance experience with the students of KC’s School of Dance.

Emily began at KC’s at the age of 3. 15 years later she continued her training at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance Full Time Course as a Scholar of Excellence student. During this time she performed in many shows, musicals and concerts including TV and Corporate credits with Australia’s Got Talent, The AFL Footy Show, The Australian Open (Nickelodeon) and the NFL College Football halftime show. Upon graduating the full time course she was successful in gaining her first contract as an ensemble member with Celebrity Cruise Line. Emily can’t wait to be back at KC’s in 2018!
