Karen began her dance training from 6 years of age studying Classical Ballet, Jazz & Tap. She went on to successfully complete all examinations in the Cecchetti method for Classical Ballet from Grade 1 through to Advanced 2. Karen has been a fully qualitied and registered Cecchetti ballet teacher since 1991 and holds the Associate, Associate Diploma, and Licentiate teaching certificates. Karen is also a registered teacher with Ballet Conservatoire devised by Christine Walsh, based on the Vaganova training system, and is also a certified teacher of the Progressive Ballet Technique program (PBT). Karen has 35 years teaching experience and is renowned for her passion and commitment to providing expert tuition in Classical Ballet to the next generation of aspiring dancers.
Karen’s teaching experience includes successful preparation for Cecchetti Ballet and Ballet Conservatoire examinations from Pre-Primary through to teaching qualifications and coaching for various dance competitions, both nationally and internationally, in all styles of dance. Many of her students have experienced success including acceptance into the Australian Ballet School, Queensland Ballet Academy and various fulltime dance institutions, Alana Haines Australasian Awards, Asian Grand Prix, Youth America Grand Prix and Prix de Lausanne. Students have accepted contracts Queensland Ballet, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise lines, Tokyo Disney, Le Nouvelle Paris and various Musical Theatre Productions. Karen has also trained many highly respected teachers working in various schools throughout Australia. Karen is also a member of the Australian Adjudicators Association and enjoys adjudicating at various dance festivals and eisteddfods throughout Australia encouraging all students to enjoy the art of dance.
